A journey to a healthier you (and me)

Global Women Connected Body Image Eating disordersI read through my Facebook post – there are so many amazing comments. They are inspiring and wonderful. This Blog is not just going to be about losing weight – it is going to be about being healthy.

This is my plan – I am addicted to exercise so I am going to keep doing it. It makes me feel terrific and gives me a huge amount of energy. Food – everyone has said no processed sugar – this is a no brainer. I just have to give it up – it is my only addiction. I think the odd biscuit will be the worst thing so I am going to do as an alcoholic would do – cut it all out. I have told the kids and they are going to join me on my summer health kick – in one way it will be easy as we are travelling for three weeks. Bread – for me this has got to go. It makes me feel lethargic and bloated. This is harder when travelling as it is so easy to buy sandwiches and harder to buy a salad. So I will be more organised and make sure I have salads around. Alcohol – I am spending this summer visiting friends and so alcohol will be hard to give up but I am not a huge drinker so it is easy for me just to have one glass. Food diary – I will be religious about using My Fitness Pal – if anyone else uses it please become My Fitness Pal friend. Many have said it works. I am thinking about getting a Fitbit but need to decide which one to get. Ideally one that I can use in a pool. Any advice about which one to use?

I realise I have to weigh myself. I have not done this for months and am nervous as I know it is not good. So I have just done it and I am weighing in at 84kg with a waist measurement of just under a metre (39 inches). That makes me feel sick and ashamed but I am going to be strong and keep you all updated on my progress.

At the end of Day 2 I am feel incredibly positive, knowing that many of you are going to be there with me on this journey to get healthy. I did not eat any junk, did Step and Zumba, and am feeling great.

I hope you like the logo – to me it shows a journey.
