Is there an ailment that you are too embarrassed to go to the Doctors about?

Embarrassing bodies

Screen Shot 2015-12-29 at 06.41.53I have always been amazed that people go on the national TV show Embarrassing Bodies to ask the doctors for help about very personal medical conditions.  It seems they are too embarrassed to go to their doctor but will tell the whole nation!!

It seems that many people are living with a medical condition that they are not getting treated.  Maybe they have already been to the doctor but had poor advice so they have decided to live with the problem.  My experience of the UK health system is that you have to fight to get referred to the right doctor or to get a second opinion.  Sometimes referrals seem to get ‘lost’ and time goes on and nothing happens.

I have included the picture of breasts from the Embarrassing Bodies web site as breast lumps seem to be a common problem that women ignore – any change in your breasts or any lumps – you should go straight to your GP.

The earlier you see your doctor about any medical condition – the better the outcome.  Do not be scared – please go sooner than later.

Are you living with a medical condition which you are coping with?
