Germany: Gangs assault women on New Years Eve

GWC _87485527_colstationIn Cologne on New Years Eve, about 80 women suffered sexual and violent attacks from gangs of men.  Cologne officials say these systematic assaults on women are a new type of crime.  About 1000 drunk men were involved in attacks at the central railway station and what is really worrying is that they appeared to be organised.  One woman was raped and others were groped, robbed, had their clothes torn and fireworks thrown at them.  The men were apparently of Arab and North African origin.

Women have also been targeted in Hamburg where reports are that 5-15 men were hunting women to assault.
