Would you know the signs of cancer?

There are five different gynaecological cancers -would you know the signs?

gyn_symptoms_matrixCancers that start in a woman’s reproductive system are called gynaecological cancers. Treatment for each cancer depends on when and where the cancer started. Early detection is vital for increased survival, so knowing the symptoms and making sure to make a doctor’s appointment is key.

Unfortunately, girls and women become somewhat used to cramps and pains in their uterus and surrounding pelvis every month. Many are also prone to recurrent cystitis and infection. This makes it more likely that they will ignore the signs of cancer, which can sometimes be confused with these pains. These symptoms range from feeling full or bloated, to abnormal bleeding.

The 5 different types of cancer are (click on each one for symptoms):

Cervical

Ovarian

Uterine

Vaginal

Vulvar

(A sixth type of gynecological cancer is the very rare fallopian tube cancer.)

Each type of cancer has different symptoms. Only cervical cancer, however, has a screening test that can find this cancer early. It is therefore especially important to recognise warning signs,  of the other cancers and learn if there are things you can do to reduce your risk.

When gynecological cancers are found early, treatment is most effective. Be aware, don’t ignore the signs. Learn them, tell your mothers, sisters, aunts and daughters, let’s mind one another.
